It started out as a perfect day. Perfect blue sky with a few picturesque puffy clouds, not too hot, not too cold. 17 years ago was really the best day of my life.
I never talked with Ted about his thoughts on the wedding, father of the bride and all that. Now having a daughter, I think I have some idea what the day was like for him.
Everything went better than you could have expected, and soon we were husband and wife. One secret, we actually did shoot photos before the wedding, so I did see her in the dress before she walked down the aisle. However, they did something that really meant a lot to me. They took me to a room, and then opened a door and there was Stacey, the most beautiful woman in the world. We had a few minutes alone before everything started.
Mr. and Mrs. are in the building.
Stacey thinking about one of her friends that couldn't make it to the wedding. I just couldn't stop smiling
I met lots and lots and lots of people there that I never saw again. But isn't Stacey beautiful.
I do remember Ted had tears rolling down his face when he danced with his little girl. I already know I am going to be a wreck at Molly's wedding.
Check, still can't stop smiling
To top off the my best day ever, it was immediately followed by a trip to Grand Cayman with my wife, what could be better.
We ended up in a little brown house in Georgia and had our first son. We finished our time there and moved up north, finding ourselves in Connecticut because it sounded like a nice place to live. Finding Fairfield was right out of Goldilocks, not too city, not too country, just the right mix. Here we added the daughter you always wanted. A little bit later came number 3, the little boy that is so cute he could ( sometimes still can) get away with anything. Stacey, 17 years ago was the best day of my life, thank you for being my wife.
We have come a long way to be here today. I am completely commited to you and our relationship.
I promise to be your best friend yet give you space for other friendships.
I promise to help through the hard times and celebrate with you the good times.
I promise to share my feelings but not to hold them against you.
I promise to make family a priority, that which with will have together and those from which we have come.
And I promise not to take you or our relationship for granted and to cherish it everyday.
